The manufacturer will use the event from 12 to 15 October at the RAI exhibition centre to show its recently launched Colorado 1630 and Arizona 135 GT printers.
While the new 1,800dpi Colorado 1630 is around a third slower than its siblings, the Colorado 1640 and the Colorado 1650, the four-colour LED UV printer features the same frame and lists in a base model configuration at €36,000 (£31,000).
It is preloaded with many of the flagship 1650’s features, all of which can be activated remotely “for a small mark-up” as users’ businesses grow, by Canon or its resellers without needing an engineer visit.
The ‘UVgel Wallpaper Factory’ production setup, featuring the Colorado 1650 and Fotoba motorised Jumbo Roll Loader JRL 170 in combination with the Cutter XLD 170WP and Rewinder REW 162, will showcase a complete end-to-end workflow for new customers and existing Colorado 1650 users.
With this setup, Canon said customers have “a fully automated solution for the production of high quality customised wallpaper, one of the fastest growing industry sectors”.
As part of a ‘UVgel Universal Factory’, meanwhile, a second Colorado 1650 will be connected to a Fotoba Jumbo Roll Rewinder and a Jumbo Roll Loader on the stand, demonstrating how customers can print long-run applications, with no need for an operator.
Also making its live international show debut, the 34.2sqm/hr Arizona 135 GT flatbed printer runs a fixed CMYK plus white colourset and can handle 1.25x2.5m boards up to 50.8mm thick. It is also field upgradable to a roll-to-roll hybrid that can handle 2.2m wide reels up to 50kg, including thin and heat sensitive media.
List pricing starts at around €69,000 (£59,000) for the base model, rising to €85,000 with the roll-to-roll option.
Also on the Canon stand, the Arizona 2380 XTF flatbed printer will show how users can increase productivity by more than 20% by minimising the need for masking and taping and work with more challenging media, such as cardboard, wood and glass.
The machine will also print a range of textured applications using the Touchstone software, which Canon said helps users to create high value print products, including interior decor applications, braille, fine-art reproduction, and retail POS displays.
Canon Production Printing Large Format Graphics EMEA sales and marketing director Wouter Derichs said: “We’re delighted to be returning to Fespa 2021 after two years without live events and to have the opportunity to produce colourful applications in real-time.
“Our focus at the event is to show customers the range of Canon’s solutions to meet their business needs and volume requirements. The past 18 months have been challenging for many and at Canon we’re helping customers and partners to focus their resources and energies on business recovery and adding value to their customers which, in turn, will translate to sustainable business growth.”
At Fespa Canon will also for the first time show the capabilities of its new UV LED inkset on the Arizona 135 GT.
The IJC358 inkset has “superior adhesive properties”, which Canon said makes it suitable for industrial applications that involve printing on more complex materials, such as plastics.
The printers on the company’s stand will be supported by Onyx 21 RIP and OneVision workflow automation software. An end-to-end automated workflow will also be demonstrated, featuring the Colorado and Arizona printers, OneVision software, and a Zünd S3 digital cutter, which will be displayed on the neighbouring OneVision stand.
