The firm's newly refurbished 1,350sqm premises in Kidderminster has been updated with a raft of new kit and MIS to enable it to keep track of production processes.
Managing director Colin Le Gresley said: “In the last couple of years we have installed a two-colour proflex from Focus, a new turret rewinder from AB Graphics and a slitter-rewinder from Bar Graphic. We renewed all anilox rolls – about 45 - to give complete uniformity across all presses and improved print quality.
“In the art room, we have introduced Packz Hybrid software with a GMG proofing system calibrated to match our printing presses, at significant cost. We’ve also installed an automatic plate cleaner, three Versa-cut anvils from RotoMetrics to improve die-cutting tolerances, and we re-racked the entire warehouse to increase racking space.
“Our 360 solar panels, together with new overhead LED task lighting throughout, were installed to minimise our carbon footprint and we run the Label Traxx MIS system, which data collects from all the presses, and we analyse this data to improve our efficiencies.”
He added: “Our other equipment purchases include a two-colour press and we recently ordered a Digital Press Trojan T4, another Bar Graphic slitter-rewinder with additional plain label-making facility and two non-contact web cleaning systems and antistatic bars from Meech International.
“We also invested in an evaporative cooling system for the factory, plus air conditioning for the offices for the comfort of our staff during the ever hotter summers.”
To mark the company milestone, Le Gresley also took all of his staff to Barcelona for a long weekend.
“Although the company was established in 1993, we officially celebrated our anniversary in the summer of 2019 with our colleagues and business partners,” he said.
“This is a family-operated business, and we pride ourselves on treating all of our staff like family members. We wanted to do something as a team to mark this exciting and momentous occasion.”
Established in 1993, Aztec Label manufactures a wide range of self-adhesive label and tag products, from plain to 10-colour options.
Looking forward to the next quarter-century, Le Gresley reiterated the company’s dedication to its values.
“Our mission statement has remained consistent across more than 25 years of operation; to offer all of our customers the best possible quality, pricing structure, and service.
“Our goal is to not just maintain these incredibly high standards we have set ourselves, but indeed to raise the bar further still.
“The team is currently 23 strong and continues to grow. Our turnover in the year ending July 2019 was £3m, and this year we are targeting £3.5m.”
