Brailsford made the pledge before chancellor Rishi Sunak announced radical plans to support businesses on Friday afternoon (20 March).
“I’m trying to create a trend of some positivity. At the end of the day people are the most important thing and I’ll do whatever I need to do to put money into the business at this time,” Brailsford told Printweek.
The Rotherham-based general commercial print firm has a high street presence for walk-up work and employs 14 staff. The company was established 35 years ago.
“I realise big companies are in a different situation, but if I have to remortgage my house that’s what we’ll do. You’ve got to invest in people and this is the time to do it – when we come out of the other side of this we’re going to be here and ready for it,” he stated.
Brailsford said the business had created a ‘crazy virus action plan’ involving jobs that can be done on a daily basis to put the business in the best shape for the future.
“We’ve got the most immaculate print shop and we’ve tidied up all the computers, and we’re thinking about marketing plans for the future.”
He added: “There will be a ray of sunshine in the future we just need get over the hill. I am sure that all businesses recognise the importance of their skilled employees now and even more so going forward after all of this chaos. I hope that all businesses, however small, do whatever they can to ensure that no jobs are lost.
“We know that when we come out of the other side of this crisis, people will remember this.”
